How long have you been in business?
Two years.
What is your primary product or service?
Second Sight (Second Site) Studio is an alternative art space. Begun in 2012, it is the first independent art gallery established in the Franklinton neighborhood. Second Sight features work by local arts collectives, and curated shows of experimental art by artists from across the Midwest.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I have worked for nonprofit galleries in Cleveland and was inspired to create my own here in Columbus.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
My gallery is the only art studio in Franklinton that offers art, dance, music and interactive experimental art to the community.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Right now I am only in the 730 Bellows Avenue location. I hope to create a art community that expands throughout the neighborhood.
Provide detailed directions to your location
From downtown Columbus (1.5 miles), cross the Main Street Bridge and proceed west on W. Rich. Turn left on Skidmore, right on Sullivant, and left on S. Green to Bellows. (Also easily accessible from SR 315.) Ample on-street parking by the old Bellows Avenue School.
What type of payments do you accept?
Cash and checks.
Which areas do you service?
Columbus, OH.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Mona Gazala (owner) Vincent Powell (creative assistant).
What are your hours of operation?
Regular business hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am-2pm or by appointment.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
That I have made them understand that art is relevant to living.
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
